Israel Sending Captured Hezbollah Russian Weapons to Ukraine

Last week, The Jewish Press reported that Israel had proposed to Ukraine the possibility of transferring to Kiev the Russian weapons captured from Hezbollah in Lebanon (Israel Offers to Give Ukraine Russian-made Weapons Captured from Hezbollah). The proposal was discussed last Tuesday in a meeting between Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel and Ukraine’s Ambassador to Israel Yevgen Korniychuk.

On Sunday, The Telegraph reported, citing Two Majors, a pro-Russian Telegram channel, that “There are signs that Israel has begun supplying Ukraine with Soviet and Russian-made weapons.”

Two Majors shared images showing dozens of shoulder-mounted missiles arranged on dry, hard ground, along with two screenshots of a US military aircraft flying from Ramstein Airbase in Germany to Hatzerim Airbase in Israel, and then on to Rzeszów in Poland, near the Ukrainian border.

Reports indicate that around 60% of the weapons seized by Israel during its 2024 war with Hezbollah in Lebanon were manufactured by the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation. This includes sniper rifles and advanced Kornet anti-tank missiles supplied to Hezbollah by Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria.

Ukraine’s Interfax news agency noted that “During the meeting, the Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Deputy Minister for her proposal to transfer to Ukraine Russian-made weapons seized by the IDF in Lebanon or elsewhere from Israel’s enemies. It was noted that this initiative represents an important step in recognizing the common threats faced by both countries. The Ukrainian side expressed hope for a positive resolution of this matter.”

At last week’s World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President Isaac Herzog to discuss key aspects of Ukrainian-Israeli cooperation.

“Ukraine is happy to see people who were in captivity returning home. Our conversation focused on shared challenges, collaboration—especially in security—and ways to secure a just peace for Ukraine,” Zelenskyy tweeted on Wednesday.

President Zelenskyy’s press service added that Zelenskyy also expressed hope for continued security and stability throughout the Middle East region during the meeting.
