This is so super simple to make it almost doesn’t need a recipe. But it’s worth having this treat in your repertoire for an incredibly easy parev dessert or for pretty gifts. I’ve gone for dark chocolate to keep things dairy-free, but you could use any type of chocolate and top it with anything you like. Get creative and think about colour and texture. Top white chocolate with cranberries and pistachios or use orange-flavoured chocolate and top the bark with pieces of candied orange and toasted almonds. Or use multi-coloured chocolate beans for a child-friendly favourite.

Method:

  • Melt the dark chocolate in a bain-marie or in a heatproof bowl in short bursts in the microwave. When it is smooth and lump free, spread it evenly on a piece of baking parchment or in an aluminium disposable tray.
  • Roughly smash the dragées into pieces — you can use a rolling pin, which is great for stress relief.
  • Immediately scatter the colourful minted broken dragées on the melted chocolate
  • Put the tray in the fridge and leave to set for at least an hour then break into shards and put in individual present bags or serving bowls.
