Two IDF reservists have been arrested on suspicion of spying for Iran in exchange for money.

Yuri Eliasfov, the primary suspect, who served in the IDF’s Iron Dome air defence unit, allegedly began transferring classified documents obtained during his military service to his Iranian handler in September 2024.

He is accused of recruiting his friend, Georgi Andreyev, into the espionage scheme a few months later, connecting him with the Iranian agent.

Andreyev previously served in the IDF’s Kirya military headquarters located in Tel Aviv.

The 21-year-olds, both from northern Israel, were arrested on suspicion of two security offences: transferring classified information and aiding the enemy during wartime, according to the Times of Israel.

They allegedly spray-painted graffiti and hung banners in Tel Aviv, displaying the slogan “Children of Ruhollah,” referring Iran’s first supreme leader, Ruhollah Khomeini, following the Islamic Revolution.

Prosecutors will file an indictment case against the pair in the following days.
