The final Maccabi GB Southern Football League game of the year saw Yallatasary extend their lead at the top of the Division One table to five points as they beat HMH B 2-1.
Goals from Sammy Garcia and Samuel Kebede saw the leaders make it ten wins from ten games, though it was one of their more hard-fought victories as HMH pushed them all the way. Zak Samuel was on target for the hosts, while they had a penalty saved, denying what HMH manager Nick Berger said would have seen them to a ‘well-deserved point’.
The win sees Yallatasary maintain their status as title favourites, with them leading the way with a healthy margin and also having a game in hand on second-place Millbrook Park Calcio.
London Lions’ First XI have ended the year sitting in 4th place in the Spartans South Midlands Football League Premier Division table. They earned their latest point as they came back from a goal down to draw 1-1 at home to Winslow United, Michael Perkins’ 40th minute equaliser cancelling out Joshua Francis Flanagan’s opener.
The Rowley Lane side have games in hand on the three sides above them, ensuring an exciting second half to their league season. The new year will also see them continue their run in the FA Vase following a 5-0 win over Great Yarmouth Town. Austin Lipman scored twice, with Perkins, Daniel Creese and Yoav Sade all on target. The last remaining Spartans South Midlands team left in the competition, they next travel to Egham Town in the fourth round of the competition and are now just four rounds away from a Wembley final.
London Lions’ Development side saw their final game of the year end in a 3-1 defeat at Owens First, Sam Hamerton netting their consolation. The defeat sees them sit in tenth place in the Herts Senior County League ACERBIS Premier Division.
