The nursery based at Holland Park Synagogue in west London has retained its outstanding status after Ofsted’s latest visit.
Keren’s Nursery, which has 50 children on its roll, was praised for its calm and positive atmosphere, the excellent behaviour of children and the “very high” expectations of staff.
It is one of four branches across London run by Keren and Assaf Ben-Ezra.
“Children thrive in their learning and development at this exceptional nursery school,” reported the inspector who assessed Holland Park.
Children give their friend a cuddle if they look sad
For example, she said, “Children participate enthusiastically in the many songs
and high-quality story times throughout the day. Children make excellent
progress in their language development and communicate confidently with
peers, staff and visitors.”
They “develop strong respect and kindness for others. For example, children help
their friends to get an ice pack or give their friend a cuddle if they look sad.
“Staff support children to understand their emotions and to develop strategies to
manage their emotions positively. For example, children take part in daily
mindfulness sessions where they learn to understand their feelings.”
The first Keren’s nursery in Hampstead Garden Suburb is also ranked outstanding; the branch at Belsize Park Synagogue is rated good and the newest Keren’s, opened in 2023 at Wimbledon Synagogue, has yet to receive an inspection.
