Several recent reports from Israel indicate that attackers are using the popular dating app Grindr to target LGBTQ individuals, resulting in a series of violent assaults, including stabbings and attempted lynchings.
Aguda, the Israeli Association for LGBTQ Equality, has documented at least ten such incidents in recent months, raising concerns within the Israeli LGBTQ community from Haifa and the Krayot regions.
The attackers reportedly create fake profiles on Grindr to arrange meetings with victims at remote locations, where they are ambushed and assaulted with sharp objects.
Two particularly violent cases, both involving stabbings and attempted murder, were reported in late February.
